<HTML>(Pardon my attempt at humor in the subject line!)

This is an interesting topic that has indeed been discussed here. Like the lost U-869 that turned out to be (after 6 years of work) where it never should have been according to official records, who knows what this CA-35 project might turn up? My understanding is they want to recover one of two twin armored 127mm gun turrets such a boat would have carried as standard to prove their find.

I continue to be completely sceptical, as official records claim the 4 that were initially laid (to be U-112 thru 115, I believe) were all scrapped after the outbreak of war in \'39. And I can see no plausible reason the Germans would have covered up such a project had they built one.

Additionally, U-Boot-Archiv records state no such boat was ever built and noted historian and author Jak Showell wrote me a letter stating his own disbelief in an XI-B being found, when none were ever built.

So, in my mind, I\'m 99.9% convinced this wreckage isn\'t an XIB U-Cruiser.

Best,
Craig

PS. I also sent away for a copy of the public record filed by Trident in a Boston court, and saw no new information that gives credence to this being an XI-B. </HTML>
