U 569

<HTML>I was reading Ken Poolman's book on the SeaHunters in which it discribs the sinking of U 569 by Lt Chamberlin VC 9 Sqn.

My inquiry is this, it details their firing on the damaged boat as the unarmed crew tried to get off the sinking boat. The reasoning was to keep the crew in the boat so they wouldn't scuttle it?

The logic is of cause sound but in practice it asumes a lot, the boat is already sinking and the crew wanted to survive but the US plane kept shooting dispite the waving of the the white flag.

It states thirty men came out of the coning tower of which 24 were picked up by HMCS St Laurent, your webb site states 25 men which is correct and did the KL Johnenson survive?</HTML>
