the pic shows U 220 (Type Xcool smiley during commissioning ceremony at Kiel. It carries conning tower conversion Type III, installed usually on Type IXD and XB during 1943, with two single 2 cm on upper bandstand and a single 2 cm on the lower bandstand plus a 10,5 cm deck gun before the CT. The fourth 2 cm aft of the bandstands temporarily replaced the 3,7 cm AA deck gun. However, only a few boats left on operations with this kind of armament, for example U 200 and U 847. U 117 carried a variation of it on its last patrol with three 2 cm twins instead of the single guns.
