Can you help with sub ID ?

On or about June 4th, 1943 I was a USAAF aviattor flying convoy patrols out of Bone, Algeria. On my morning patrol I spotted a German uboat, and as it surfaced I attacked it with machine guns and 37mm cannon. It began to sink, and a destroyer from the convoy came to the scene and launched depth charges, destroying the uboat. I remmeber the swastika on the conning tower distinctly.
I am now writing a memoir, and would appreciate any help in identifying the uboat.
I recieved a Air Force Air medal for the action, and credit for the kill.
