A crash dive means, getting the U-boat underwater as fast as possible, with
all hands at dive & battle stations for a possible enemy attack or a threat to the U-boat.?

In the German U-boat service, it was common practise for an Officer-on -the Watch, on the conning tower of a U-boat to scream-out through the hatch "ALARM" to the crew below....meaning a crash-dive..

A normal dive is done under an order given by the sub Captain.
