<HTML>Hi Jack,
my uncle served on U-48 and U-703 and I talked to him quiet a few times before he died in 1985.
He stated, that the young men who served on the U-boats, were rather unpolitically motivated and that Doenitz kept the Nazi ideologie pretty much out of his U-boat force.
This attitude reflects also in all the books published on this subject. Doenitz was maybe a true follower of Hitler, but he kept the politics out of his U-boat force.
