Must correct another error in previous post. U-2513 was not sunk off Florida (Key West) and raised; she was sunk off Key West and remains sunk there. It was U-1105 that was raised (from original sinking site in Chesapeake Bay) and re-sunk in Potomac.
Now I must ask for clarification on the disposition of one of those SubCom 2 boats, the 3008 (thirty-oh-eight)--in the U-boat Net \"Post-War History\" Gummi? states that she was sunk after demolition tests by USN. Navy records say she was sold as scrap to a New York smelter in 1954. Anybody got a clue?
(Note: Navy records also say L-8 was scrapped (she was sunk SW of New London), and Bass was scrapped (sunk outside of Block Island Harbor). One Navy source still lists S-21 as \"scrapped\" (but another properly describes her fate as \"sunk as target in Casco Bay\").
