<HTML>Dear JR: This is what I have. Its in German, but I can make some things out. German text first:

U 509/KL Werner Witte/ Am 15.07.43 im Mittelatlantik nordwestlich Madeira durch eine Avenger und eine Wildcat. Maschine des Us-Geleittragers Santee (Squadron VC-29) durch Bordwaffenbeschuss und einen akustischen Torpedo (Fido) versenkt. Nach einer starken Unterwasserdetonation schwamm ein dicker Olteppich auf. 54 KIA
position/ 34,02N/ 26,01W.

U-509 Sunk on july 7, 1943, by one Avenger torpedo bomber and one F4F Wildcat fighter, in the mid-Atlantic ocean west of Madeira (Spain, I assume) Underwater explosion by an Acoustic Torpedo. All 54 men, were killed in action. Hope my translation isnt way off course.
