<HTML>Naturally the photo of those killed on the U-571 and listed at Moeltenort should not include this \"survivor.\" It would be a simple matter to pull out the binder of the U-571 at the U-Boot-Archiv and photo copy a list of the crew...and I\'ll bet you could get a copy for the normal contribution.
Perhaps this man you have met was on shore due to illness or something when the 571 went down and this is how he survived...similar to the survivor of the now famous U-869 who had pneumonia and couldn\'t go out on her last patrol??
I\'d like to think he isn\'t fibbing about having been a crew member...
