I should have said allegedly, because I have never visited the wrecks myself, but not so many years ago the submarine was in reasonable condition and the latest information is that explosives have been used. She is a war grave but that does not stop individuals, or groups of divers from pillaging. Further down the coast HM s/m UMPIRE has also been heavily salvaged and she is a war grave too, so these people are not fussy who they belonged to so long as there is money in it.
