Eric, David, Fregatte, et al:
There was a Kriegsmarine Naval Signalling Lamp issued. It was
labeled "20mm Marine Einheits Scheinwerfer - ESv.20"
It was manufactured by the Zeiss Optical Company. It had a large
electrical cable on the rear with two alligator clips. The lamp
operates on 24VDC. There is a sight with crosshair on the top with a trigger on the left side of the lamp.
This could possibly be the lamp that was to signal between surfaced U-boats.
