I even asked Mr. Topp which boat he liked best of the ones he commanded (a Type II, VII, and XXI). Not a brilliant question, but I was curious to hear his personal views. Type II of course was too limited overall. VII was a good boat up to a point. The XXI was the world\'s first true submarine and with large amounts of reserve torpedoes, although, as Mr. Topp concluded, \"But it came too late.\"
