Number of Kriegsmarine officers

Hi All,

Does anyone have a fairly accurate of the number of naval officers who served in the Kriegsmarine?

Die Deutsche Kriegsmarine 1939-1945 by Lohmann & Hildebrand lists around 6000 (I haven't counted them - would take too long) but there must be many more than this because a lot of officers such as IWO, IIWO etc (U-boats and other vessels) are not listed.

Any estimates/guesstimates would be much appreciated.
