Interesting question. I know he's a "schwertfisch" in German. If you want to get scientific about it, a sawfish has spikes on both edges of his saw-snout, a swordfish has them on one edge. However, Hans Kossatz's cartoon version makes the beak look more like a saw, so when you see it, "sawfish" is an immediate response. And in the original cartoon, the naughty fish is sawing a diver's communication line.

At this point it's about six swordfish to a half-dozen sawfish. Or maybe "alles kleine fische!"
