When we see that after Kriegsmarine used four-rotors Enigma, and the allied codebreakers were unable (in the first time) to broke the new cipher, it was "second happy time" for German submarines. This is the best description of importance of the Bombe and BP and few really smart Brits!
Of course, the US Navy also had excellent codebreakers, after all in December 1941 USN codebreakers in Pearl Harbor did great job, better job than many others...

P.S. One little and not so known detail- during the Winter War between USSR and Finland, Swedish radio intelligence monitored Soviet radio communications, especially Soviet air force radio communications, and the each time Soviet bombers flew from Leningrad towards Helsinki, Swedes informed the Fins about that, and because of that a lot of lifes in helsinki were saved!
