Many thanks to FAlmeida!
A further note about my visit to U776. We were told to enter by the forward torpedo hatch, and leave at the stern.
On the way through the boat, we were not allowed to inspect the conning tower because it was secret. Secret from whom !!!???? Surely both the German and Brritish navies knew what equipment was there.
Perhaps secret from the Russians? or just some petty decision by a junior bureaucrat?
Thank you again, anyway,
Richard Robson
