Hello
A little research proved that Herbert Werner invented entire convoy attacks during patrols in U 557 and U 230.
In actuality, U 557 (CO Kptlt. Ottokar Paulshen) sank a single 7,000 GRT merchant on her first patrol. Werner has included a prolonged nighttime convoy attack, inflating the patrols total to seven Merchant ships sunk, for 37,000 GRT. On her third patrol, U 557 sank a single 4,000 GRT Merchant ship, once again, Werner has U 557 engaging in a night surface attack, sinking six ships for 32,000 GRT.
During U 230 CO Kptlt. Paul Siegmann first war patrol with Herbert Werner as 1.WO, a single 2,800 GRT ship was sunk. Somehow, this has been increased to seven merchant ships for 35,000 GRT
Cheers, Fernando
