U-boat commanders motto?

I was just watching a documentary about the U-864.
At one point, they show a written message that Korvkpt. Ralf-Reimar Wolfram left in a guest book at the Officer's mess in Bergen, Norway.
He had written:
"Heart of Gold, Clear Horizon"
- which the documentary claimed was a motto for all U-boat captain.
Is this the case? I have not seen this slogan anywhere else in all the U-boat reading/research I have done.
Thanks for anyone who can shed perspective on this.
