I only just found out about the passing of Herr Oesten. He was a remarkable man and I feel very lucky to have met both he and his wife several times in Hamburg. He had a great wit and very irreverent sense of humour as well as an amazing memory for details from his military service. One of the most interesting and nicest men I have ever met. I'm very sorry to hear he is no longer with us.
