What was the criteria for the awarding of medals (EK, KVK, RK) to U-boat crews? In \'Das Boot\' when the boat was at the bottom of the Strait and the Chief fixed her and devised the plan to raise her, what would he have been awarded? The EK, because his actions were caused by the enemy - or the KVK because his actions were not in the face of the enemy? I only use this scenario because I just beginning to study the Navy, and am having a hard time defining what \"in the face of the enemy\" means when you\'re under water...
