<HTML>Hi Jan-Olof,

For what it is worth, a U-boat sinking bow first would probably damage her bow when she hit the bottom.

Leaks in the spare torpedo containers under the deck caused by depth charges almost caused U-126 to sink. The containers quickly filled with water. Her descent was stopped at the very last moment.

If she went down with all hands it is not likely scuttling charges had anything to do with it but the forward torpedo room is one of the places scuttling charges were set.

Regards,

Ken Dunn
