While not totally impossible, it seems very highly unlikely.

Cremer / Kremer / Kraemer are reasonably common names around here (Flanders & The Netherlands - and previously also in north west France, which used to be a dutch speaking area. They just mean "merchant".

Today we still use the word martkramer to designate people who constantly travel from one local market to another selling all sorts of every day products - often on the cheaper end of the spectrum and of lesser quality.

A little Google search tells us that Cremer is also a quite common name in German speaking countries. I'd be willing to bet some money that the etymology is the same as in Dutch.

Another famous person who was actually called Kreemer because his forefathers were merchants is none other than the guy known as Mercator. Mercator again is Latin for merchant.

Merchants come a dime a dozen.
