<HTML>Well, I voted for 40$ in the poll, because I consider that for those who have a real use for it, it is indeed mucho cheapo. I\'m quite sure those people are willing to pay 50$ as well, but I opted for 40 because there was no way to express what I really mean. Which is this:
If the idea is to somehow maximise the net return on a durable basis, it might be a good idea (only Gummi can really judge that, though as it all depends on the demographics of the typical uboat.net visitor) to also have something even \"cheaper\" as well, next to the annual formula. (Please note that this cheaper formula doesn\'t need to be cheaper overall in terms of duration versus cost for the user, only in absolute cost for those who don\'t intend to use the member area very much.)
Look at it this way: for each and every one of the monthly magazines that I have at some point or another been a subscriber to, I went through several years of buying them at a bookshop one by one if and only if that month\'s issue had enough interesting material in it. Why? Well because subcribing to them all costs a lot more more than buying only the interesting single issues. Then, when I found out that I was buying almost all issues of some particular magazine, that\'s when I opted to get a subscription.
In the case of uboat.net, I personally have been a daily visitor for many years now, so I already know that the source is very good and all that. But newcomers might want to have a try first.
Just one more random thought that just came to my mind (and that doesn\'t really fit in with the above): with magazine subscriptions, you get to keep the material once you bought it. It doesn\'t expire. With internet subscriptions this is not the case. So even if the mechanics might be comparable, the pricing policies probably aren\'t.</HTML>
