No need to thank me, really.
But are you sure this was U-367? I thought so too at first, but then noticed, they were already searching for U-367 long before that message was sent.
(they managed to get to their exercise area in 2 hours? they were still in harbour at 0600)
A message was sent to U-747 with TOO 1432 on 16/3 to search for them:
U-367 did not answer:
At 2042 on 16/3 front-line training group notified Dönitz that U-367 was overdue:
But the message that "U-3010" struck a mine came at 2359 on 16/3. Of course it's possible their radio broke down, but... :/ And why did front-line training group then report on 17th, that all its boats were present? Nobody thought it was possible this was U-367?
They remembered it was missing on the 18th:
Any idea where squares 23 and 30 were? Naval grid I have no problem with, but as soon as they start talking about these training squares, using only letters or numbers... Maybe then I could figure out, why didn't U-747 encounter them, while returning to port (if that was them instead of U-3010) and so on.
Sorry; too many questions, I know. Thank you for your reply, vito!
