The Hunters and The Hunted by Jochen Brennecke (English translation - hardback of 1958) mentions in chapter XXII

\"The subject under review was the Walter U-boat. As a result an order was given to the Howaldt shipbuilding yard to construct a new and smaller type of the Walter U-boat, known as the Gabler Boat, for operation in coastal waters.\"

Does anyone have any information on these boats and in particular about
Prof. Dipl. Ing. Ulrich Gabler? I do have a little personal information about him but not very much, I met him nearly 30 years ago but didnt get a chance to ask too many questions. KzS K-F M was also in the company & I must admit that I spent most of the short time available chatting to him.

Any answers would be greatfully appreciated
