<HTML>to your no.1: the military salute in germany was cancelled by order after July 20th 1944.Instead everyone had to use the \"Deutscher Gruß\"= Stretching forward the right hand and saying \"He..Hi..\". For practicability reasons this order was paused in special surroundings like a narrow uboat for obvious reasons:-))

as wether navy personnell was especially pro- or anti-nazi....i think here applies common sense.some where and some were not,like its everywhere.</HTML>
