<HTML>The U-505 was captured in June of 1944.

The U-boat war was won by 1943. That\'s when U-boat crews were being sent to their deaths. This was achieved by the British having better radar and having decryption techniques ready. According to this web site, it only took 24 hours to read deciphered Enigma texts by 1943.

I have heard that the U.S. Navy\'s capture of the U-505 was almost a blunder because it could have tipped off the Germans that the Enigma was comprimised. The U.S. high command knew this and were very irked by the hunter group\'s commander. His orders were to sink U-boats not capture them. They didn\'t need the U-505.

Can I have your source of information so that I may modify my information?
