<HTML>Having seen the DVD version, I'm really wondering, how much more of material interest is in the German mini-series? Are there action sequences not included in the 209 min. Director's Cut? If the extended version was just for character development, then, I'll go with Wolfgang Petersen's commentary in the DVD that the 209 min version was in his mind the "perfect" Das Boot. That being said, all of the extraneous material in the German TV version would be fluff, or useless filler. Now, for the TRULY hardcore, the extra footage would be desirable, but I'm perfectly happy (as a Silent Hunter II gamer) with the depiction of U-Boot 96 at war as depicted in the DVD version. I must add that the DVD DOES include commentary by Wolfgang Petersen and Jurgen Prochnow, which gives you some idea about why the DVD was done as it was.</HTML>
