the parasitic disease described in &#8220;Das Boot&#8221; is an infestation by "Phthirius Pubis" that is somewhat different from an infestation by "Pediculus Humanus capitis/corporis" as many would believe.
Albeit the therapy is the same, the first add insult to injury since it is regarded as a sexual related infestation. Thus the embarrassment of the always too straight IWO.
Paste those funny Latin names into Google.com and you will see the full story.
