<HTML>Hello all: Yes the airplanes in the film are North American AT-6's, or more likely "Harvards" as they were known in the RAF. I used to own one and have a pretty good idea about how they look from different angles. T-6's are used a lot in films mostly because they're available, and they really look good in the part, even though we know they were only trainers.
The Wirraway was a licensed built derivative from Australia.They were used as trainers and light attack aircraft. One even shot down a Zero!
The scene where the formation of twin engine bombers are breaking up I've seen before. I just can't remember which movie, 633 Squadron of The Battle of Britain.
