You are absolutely right. There on the publishers page (is that what its properly called?) preceding the table of contents is this note:
"All of the photographs in this book were taken by Lothar-Gunther Buchheim, with the exception of those of the torpedo strike on a freighter, which were taken bt Fritz Grade, Directing Engineer of U-Boat 96."
Drats, I thought I was on to something there. Thank you for your incredibly quick response!
