I have to agree with you on that, MCE. The male clothing and uniforms of the 1940's just don't work that differently from what guys wear today.

Having some experience as a Rev-War (War of American Independence) clothier and military tailor, when you get back THAT far, it does take some time to get used to the clothing. The garments, their tailoring, cut and fit are very different. This is more true for women than for men, since the whole cut of 18th century female clothing is based on a corseted figure. However, I don't see it being anything like that for '40's men's wear.
