Now that's IRL, folks-- In Real Life! Io is talking about what actually happened on the 7th patrol of the U-96, not about how it was depicted in the movie. Buchheim and Petersen exaggerated the situation at Gibraltar for dramatic purposes, by making the depth greater than it actually was.
