Hi Don Thanks great and very useful information. Is there another tank at the very stern of the boat the “Stern Buoyancy Tank” (in blue) before the D1 – Dive Tank #1 (in red)? If there is a “Stern Buoyancy Tank”, where is the grate on the deck for the inlet valve for this tank, as I can not found it on the deck? Do you know that the outlet valves look like? Thanks, Simo

Does anyone have any pictures of the stern or know that the stroy this with the Stern Driving Tank? Thanks

I have noted in some pictures (I can not remember if they were from models or real) that the three bow Tie Downs (correct term?) were open on the top. The pictures above are from U-995, they are all the same style with a closing hinge on top. Does anyone know if they were ‘open’ or ‘closed’? Thanks Simon.

I believe that the only Type VIIC with a FuMB-35 Athos, was U-249 but if you look at this picture it look like there is one on U-260 also. I am wrong? www.pbibcalella.com/ph/u260.jpg Thanks, Simon.

Yes - brass. I also believe that brass would not be strong enough and the Germens may have brass-plated the steel stem. Thanks for the information.

I think that net cutters were only used in the early part of the war, and the S-gerat was only used at the end of the war, but i could be wrong. Simon

I was looking at my pictures of U-995 and noted a colour behind the the sliver paint currently on the Electrical control panel. The new colour I found is between the two brass plates, its a dirty grey/green colour (RGB 125,156,135). Does anyone think this could be the originally colour? Thanks, Simon.

During the 8 months, I continue slowly forward on my schematic drawings. I have changed the drawing of the VIIC/41 from a 1:80 scale to a 1:60 scale (A0 page size – this make the U-boat 1,120 mm width on the paper). I have also continue to make the U-boat as accurate as I can. I would like to thanks everyone who has asked all my questions about different parts of the U-boat over the last 8

Hi John Yes, they do look different on page 46. However, today while looking for more pictures of the u-boat Galley,I came across this picture at From this picture on this web page you can see that the hatch covers on the Watertight containers on the foredeck are the same style as the hatch covers on the upper deck :-) Simon
