No war patrol, just the movement from Helsingor to Kiel for some maintenance and resupply.

I guess you are asking about the british submarine HMS Seal: Part of the crew were held in a POW camp in Poland, according to the Wiki article. I don't know if they were forced to work in coal mines. But I think other members here can shed a light on this matter.

Hi! The best is to do your research here and ask for information: There you get at least the naval units your uncle served for. As he died at Sworbe (where heavy land-based fighting took place) it is very unlikely that he died on a uboat. Please keep in mind that answering your research can take the Federal Archive upt to 9-12 months. Sadly...

There were two air raids that day, one from 1158 till 1252 and one from 1652 till 1848. According to war diary Seetransportchef Ostland most of these vessels were reported lost by one or more hits. No plane crashing into a ship is mentioned.

Is it really I.O.W. or is it I.W.O.? The latter would mean 1. Wachoffizier (First Officer of the Watch). That was Rudolf Conrad as you can see in our crewlist-database (which is definitly not complete!!):

I don't know where the information "AO 30" and "U 370 in Kalasika" come from. War diary U 481 states that it went alongside U 370 in the port of Nuokko and delivered food and ammo because it should go to Gotenhafen for an overhaul. War diary U 370 states the same, but gives the place with the cryptic name "Grand Hotel".

One little correction: a Maat is not an officer. I think he is Petty Officer Second Class.

His last rank was Maat. Maybe F.T. means that his position was in the radio room.

Hello! With that way of spelling I did not find him in the Crewlist on our website. But that does not necessarily mean that he did not sail on an uboat. Our lists are far from being complete.

Not only probably. ;-) The "(TF)" means that the source of the database record is a wireless message from a uboat.

Most of your questions are answered here: U 108 was refuelled on 7.11. in the evening but because of technical problems with the hoses most fuel went into the sea. At 22:20 this was abandoned and retried the next morning. The problems commenced and then refuelling was stoped after a radio message from BdU was received that ordered all uboats with sufficient fuel to proceed immediately to the

The first one says that tug "Sogo Pigi" arrived with a tanker in Mudros. The second one says that tug "Pigi" is out of order and by that the small tug "Luisa" is the only one available.
