Notes

While UC 32 was laying mines off the Roker lighthouse at Sunderland on February 23, 1917 the boat detonated one of its own mines. The commander, Herbert Breyer, and two men were picked up by the British after she blew up. They became prisoners of war.

Breyer was promoted to Kapitänleutnant on November 19, 1919 with a seniority date of April 26, 1917, the date he would otherwise have been promoted to Kapitänleutnant had he not been captured.
