Notes on event | At 22.50 hours on 16 April 1942, U-81 shelled and sank three sailing vessels about 25 southwest of Beirut. Two of the vessels were Bab el Farag and Fatouh el Kher, the third could not be identified. At 22.30 hours on 17 April U-81 reported another sailing vessel of approx. 100 tons damaged by gunfire off Haifa, but this schooner could also not be identified. |
