S-7 was torpedoed and sunk at 2041hours on 21 October 1942 south-west of Aland in position 59º51'N, 19º32'E. She was located by the Finnish submarine Vesihiisi 8000 meters away. A single torpedo was fired from 2000 meters, hitting the Soviet boat in the stern and sinking it. Only the four men standing on the bridge, including the Commanding Officer survived, and were made POWs. 44 men were lost with the ship.
