Disarmed at Alexandria, Egypt and interned by the British on 22 June 1940.
Rejoined the Allied cause and rearmed on 30 May 1943.
Departed Algiers for patrol off Southern France on 18 December 1943.
Did not return from patrol.
The wreck was found on 6 April 1995 in position 43°04'16"N, 5°32'14"E.
Evidence seems to indicate that she was mined.

The French submarine Prot?e intercepts and stopped the French merchant Aragaz (5009 GRT) about 90 nautical miles east of Safi, Morocco in position 32°10'N, 11°00'W. The French ship was released after her identity was established.
