Hi Rainer, just wondering about the La Martinique, I only have two sources on the French navy, Conway's, state Roland Morillot,La Martinique and La Praya were all destroyed on the slipway at Arsenal de Cherbourg on 18.06.40 & the others were cancelled. However in JeanLabayle Couhat's book, he states Roland Morillot was scuttled at Cherbourg on June 19th, with the La Praya and La Martinique both burnt out on the adjoining slipway the day. He goes on to list two other boats, La Guadeloupe and La Reunion as being laid down in June 1940, but does not state their fates. If the La Martinique had been either destroyed or burnt out, surely the Germans would not have salvaged her?. Of the remaining French submarines listed, there is only the La Favorite to be completed by the Germans before the end of the war. regards john
