HMCS Drumheller (A/Cdr. G.H. Griffiths, RCN) picks up 16 survivors from the Panamanian merchant Capira that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-609 in convoy SC-97 about 400 nautical miles south-east of Cape Farewell in position 57°13'N, 33°40'W.
