Awarded a Silver Star of his actions in Lingayen Gulf on January 7, 1945 for the rescue of 94 survivors of the sunken USS Palmer (DMS 5). Awarded a Bronze Star for actions at Okinawa from March 25, 1945 to August 14, 1945.
