HMS Dianella (T/Lt. J.G. Rankin, RNR) picks up 36 survivors from the British merchant Germanic that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-48 south of Iceland in position 61°18'N, 22°05'W.
HMS Dianella also picks up 43 survivors from the British merchant Hylton that was torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-48 south of Iceland in position 61°22'N, 20°00'W.

The British merchant Empire Byron is torpedoed and sunk by German U-boat U-703 in the Barents Sea in position 76°18'N, 33°30'E. 63 survivors are later picked up HMS Dianella (T/Lt. J.G. Rankin, RNR).
