At 0345 hours on 15 November 1942 the Italian submarine Ascianghi torpedoed and sank the British minesweeper HMS Algerine 5 nautical miles north of Cap Carbon in position 36°45'N, 05°11'E . HMS Cadmus (A/Cdr. J.B.G. Temple, DSC, RN) picks up 32 survivors and land them at Bougie, Algeria.
