At 0810/14, near Tobermory Blade and H 43 left and United joined her new escort, HMS Persian (Lt.Cdr. A. Ecclestone, RN) for onward passage to Stornoway where they arrived at 2358/14. (2)

Submarine HMS Vigorous (P 74)

HMS Vigorous (Lt. N.R. Wood, RN) damaged a Japanese coaster with gunfire off north-west Sumatra, Netherlands East Indies.

At 1228 hours (time zone -6.5) Vigorous surfaced and opened fire with the deck gun at a beached coaster. 43 rounds were fired with 25 hits. 7 minutes after surfacing Vigorous dived again.
