During her 9th war patrol USS Grouper (Lt.Cdr. F.H. Wahlig) torpedoed and sank the Japanese transport ship Kumanosan Maru (2857 GRT) and the Japanese tanker Nanmei Maru No.6 (834 GRT) south of Yokosuka, Japan in position 34°45'N, 139°30'E.
