MacGregor III) sank the German auxiliary minesweeper M 4242 (212 GRT, former French trawler Odett II) and a barge with gunfire in the Bay of Biscay about 55 nautical miles west-north-west of Biarritz, France in position 43°55'N, 02°42'W.

While on her 2nd war patrol out of Roseneath, Scotland, USS Shad (Lt.Cdr. E.J. MacGregor III) torpedoed and damaged the German blockade merchant (ore transport) Nordfels (1214 GRT) in the Bay of Biscay in position 43°28'N, 02°59'W.

USS Shad (Lt.Cdr. E.J. MacGregor III) torpedoed and damaged the Japanese merchant cargo ship Fuji Maru (9130 GRT) north of Okinawa in position 28°20'N, 128°05'E. The damaged ship is later finished off by USS Grayback. The two submarines shared the "kill".

USS Shad (Lt.Cdr. E.J. MacGregor III) ended her 6th war patrol at Pearl Harbor. She is now ordered to San Francisco for a major overhaul.
