USS Permit (Lt.Cdr. W.G. Chapple) sank the disabled US motor torpedo boat USS PT 32 with gunfire 1 nautical mile south-west of Taguayan Island, Philippines in position 10°58'N, 121°12'E.

USS Permit (Lt.Cdr. W.G. Chapple) delivers ammunition to Corregidor and evacuates some 40 officers and men.
Permit also had the 7 crewmen of the motor torpedo boat PT 32 on board.
Permit was so overcrowded the Commanding Officer was actually reprimanded upon arrival in Australia because of endangering his ship.

USS Permit (Lt.Cdr. W.G. Chapple) mistakenly sank the Soviet oceanographic vessel Seiner No.20 (55 GRT) about 27 nautical miles off Kaiba To. Once the mistake is realized, Permit comes alongside the blazing vessel and rescues the survivors before the Russian craft sinks. The Soviet sailors are taken to Akutan, Alaska.
