With her torpedo trials completed, USS Picuda (Lt.Cdr. A. Raborn, USN), arrived at New London, Connecticut from Newport, Rhode Island.

17 Feb 1944
After working up and shifting from the east coast to Pearl Harbor USS Picuda (Lt.Cdr. A. Raborn) left base for her first war patrol. She was to patrol in the Caroline Islands area.

2 Mar 1944 (position 6.22, 148.28)
USS Picuda (Lt.Cdr. A. Raborn) torpedoed and sank the Japanese transport ship Shinkyo Maru (5139 GRT) south-west of Truk in position 06°22'N, 148°28'E.

18 Mar 1944 (position 12.33, 141.08)
USS Picuda (Lt.Cdr. A. Raborn) torpedoed and damaged the Japanese ammunition ship Aratama Maru (6783 GRT) off Guam in position 12°33'N, 141°08'E.

20 Mar 1944 (position 10.09, 138.10)
USS Picuda (Lt.Cdr. A. Raborn) torpedoed and sank the Japanese supply ship Hoko Maru (1504 GRT) about 40 nautical miles north of Yap, Caroline Islands in position 10°09'N, 138°10'E.

USS Picuda (Lt.Cdr. A. Raborn) torpedoed and sank the Japanese transport Atlantic Maru (5872 GRT) about 90 nautical miles south-south-west of Guam in position 12°20'N, 145°55'E.

USS Picuda (Lt.Cdr. A. Raborn) torpedoed and sank the Japanese merchant Tsukuba Maru (3171 GRT) and the Japanese gunboat Hashidate off Pratas Island in position 21°08'N, 117°20'E.

USS Picuda (Lt.Cdr. A. Raborn) returned to Midway ending her second war patrol. She left Midway for Pearl Harbor the next day, arriving there on the 27th.
