Career information
Captain John Madison Hoskins was scheduled to take command of the light fleet carrier USS Princeton (CVL 23) and was onboard when she was heavily damaged during the Battle of Leyte Gulf on Oct 24 1944. He survived the sinking of the vessel but was badly wounded.
